Botswana had long been regarded as a leading light in southern Africa, inculcating a climate conducive to private enterprise and entrepreneurship. AIDC Group Executive Chairman Dr. Abdul Satar Dada recognised the potential and availability of opportunities even before the country’s independence, carving out a corporate path from a single small business to the successful multifarious Group. Born and brought up in the small village of Moshupa, Mr. Dada worked diligently in his uncle’s general store, garnering knowledge of the retail trade till he was able to acquire a struggling retail business of his own in Kanye in 1962.  With hard work, dedication and ingenuity he gave a formerly impotent business a boost, transforming it into a flourishing operation.
